Myths and Legends - Cultural Implications about Neptune

  • The planet was not known to the ancient civilizations because it was discovered in 1846. Because it was not visible to the naked eye, nor is it today. No one can see it from earth, not one specific culture or country can see this planet more than another one. 
  • It was named after the Roman god of sea Neptune as many of the other planets had been named after Roman gods.
